Kill Me

All right not exactly, but there comes a time in one's life when you realize that the most reliable person in your life is a small metal contraption with cords coming out of it and a 12 inch screen.

If that's not bad enough, you also come to realize that the real people in your life are malfunctioning while your computer is constantly updating and improving itself, in spite of all my attempts to stop it.

It doesn't make any sense.

Salman Rushdie, whether you like him as a writer or not, made the point that modernity suffers from being more surreal than the best fiction out there, this at least is how he explains the more fantastical elements of his writing. Truly, when culture is composed of millions of people sharing their thoughts in code, when the Terminator proposes changing the constitution, when fake boobs have superceded real ones, and when what celebrities are wearing gets more news time than the fact that Haiti is fucking destroying itself, I would argue that Rushdie has a point. Ever see that movie Brazil? Like that, but worse.

Curious, the one thing that scifi people seem to agree upon about the future is that everyone will wear shiny shirts. Metallic, glistening, irridescent shiny shirts. What they don't think about is how jeans will likely never go away, and that shiny shirts will likely look stupid with jeans.
